Judy Jensen Claunch

Judy Jensen Claunch, 82, of Boise, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at her home from lung cancer.

Judy was born September 22, 1943, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to A. Henry and Ida Jensen. She grew up in the Rockford, Idaho area and graduated from Snake River High School in 1961. She also attended two years at Idaho State University.

Judy married James W. Claunch, Jr. on August 22, 1964, in Blackfoot, Idaho. They were married for 61 wonderful years. They had three sons, James, Joel and Jerel.

After their marriage, they went to California for five months and returned to settle in Idaho Falls. Judy was a secretary for American Paper Company, Phase Applications and later a bookkeeper and office manager for Falls Printing. Her husband, Jim worked for Westinghouse Electric at the Naval Reactors Facility at the INEL.

Judy loved the outdoors and everything in it. She enjoyed hiking and went on two fifty-milers with her husband when he was a scout master. She loved stream fishing, both upland and big game hunting and fly fishing from her kayak with our little dog in the bow.

She enjoyed sewing, quilt making and making jewelry where she kept her family and friends with a supply of finger rings, ear rings and bracelets. She also sold quite a few items. She took pride in her appearance, a clean home and furnishings.

Judy enjoyed going to the YMCA and working out with the many exercise programs. She was very fit and could keep up with the young ones. Many were quite surprised at her age. She met many lasting and dear friends at the “Y”. They had their special “Y” Group and enjoyed going out for coffee, birthday luncheons and overnight scenic trips together. They have been special friends to Judy in her time following her diagnose last June.

She is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Claunch of Boise, their three sons, James (Julie) Claunch of Idaho Falls, Joel Claunch of Boise and Jerel (Lisa) Claunch of Boise, two Sisters, Connie (Dennis) Horvath of Lenoir City, TN and Susan (Dave) Gerkensmeyer of the Tri-Cities, WA, one granddaughter and six grandsons.

She was proceed in death by her parents and a brother, Evan Jimmie Jensen of Rockford, ID.
