Obituary
Dale Hulse
December 12th, 1929 - March 19th, 2026
Delbert Dale Hulse, 96, of Ririe, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 19, 2026. Dale was born on December 12, 1929, in Ririe, Idaho, to Hyrum Hulse and Mamora Carpenter Scott Hulse. He attended the local school where his favorite subjects were arithmetic and playing baseball with his friends. He joined the Navy at 17 and served until 1949, when he returned home and met Margie Helen Cordon at a local dance. On November 19, 1949, they eloped in Salmon, Idaho, along with their best friends, Nile and Joyce Chase.
They spent the first few years of the marriage living in eastern Idaho where Dale worked as a ranch hand. In 1953, Dale began working at Andrew Well Drilling in Idaho Falls, where he stayed until he retired in 1993. He spent his summers working in Jackson, Wyoming, and Island Park, Idaho, exploring the mountains and having adventures with Margie and their young sons. He especially loved to fish. An avid angler, Dale loved to fish Idaho’s lakes and rivers and passed that love down to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of his favorite places was the beaches of Palisades Reservoir where he and his family once discovered several ancient and fully intact bison skeletons buried in the beach.
Dale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings. His favorite was working as a service missionary at the Cannery. He and Margie began volunteering after his retirement and he served diligently for almost 30 years, keeping his grandkids in a steady supply of dried apples and hot cocoa.
Most of all, Dale loved spending time with his family, whether he was teaching his grandkids how to whittle the perfect hot dog roasting stick, pushing them on the giant tire swing, or taking them to his favorite fishing spot and teaching them how to collect worms and bait a hook. He was always ready with a pocketknife and a quick smile, and loved to have everyone around.
Dale is survived by his daughter Brenda Hulse (Nathan Ward) of Charlotte, NC; 3 sons, Rick (Emma) Hulse of Idaho Falls, ID, Terry (Diane) Hulse of Irwin, ID, and Scott (Holly) Hulse of Mud Lake, ID; 17 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 15 siblings; his wife Margie; two sons, Darrell and David Hulse; 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Ririe Stake Center 14061 North 130 East in Ririe. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Thursday, prior to the church services. Burial will be held at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
His family loved him just as much or more than he loved them and he will be truly missed.
