Raymond Michael Samoy, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 23, 2026.
He was born November 4, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Michael and Martha Samoy. He and his sister, Dianne Paulos, grew up in Pittsburgh.
Ray met his future wife, Marlene, in high school. They married July 6, 1963. They adopted twins who were born on May 12, 1969. The family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1978 after Ray got a job transfer with Westinghouse to the INL. He worked for Westinghouse and then Lockheed until his retirement in 2001.
Ray was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church. He liked to sing in the choir and play cards with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; sister, Dianne (Wayne) Paulos; children, Michael Samoy and Christy (Troy) Posio; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that truly loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hope Lutheran Church or the St. Joseph’s Indian School.
