Obituary
Ben R. Hix
May 9th, 1977 - May 11th, 2026
Benjamin Ray Hix, 49, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Ben was born on May 9, 1977, to Randy and Michaelena Hix. He was raised in Osgood, Idaho, and had many fun adventures growing up in the country. He worked hard moving pipe and helping his dad on the family tree farm. He played baseball and football throughout his younger years. Ben loved taking family trips to Lake Powell with the Hix cousins, and terrorizing friends and neighbors on Halloween with his dad and sisters, aka “The Hix Raiders”.
After graduating from Skyline High School in 1995, he moved to Boise, where he worked for Les Schwab. It was there that he fell in love with Brooke Bueno. Ben and Brooke married in 2003 and were blessed with three beautiful daughters – Olivia, Kamryn, and Stella. Although they later divorced, they remained a constant in each other’s lives. He had a special bond with all his girls and recently got matching tattoos with them.
Ben and Brooke made their home in Idaho Falls, where Ben attended school to become a licensed plumber. He worked for the Summers family at First Street Plumbing for several years. In 2014, he started his own successful business, KO Plumbing (named after his daughters), which he owned and operated until his passing.
Ben was a sharpshooter and a skilled waterfowl hunter. When late October rolled around, Ben and The Hix Gang would all be in South Dakota chasing Ringneck pheasants. He played golf, ran his jetboat up and down the Snake River, tried hard at fishing but was too impatient to land a trophy. He loved camping with his girls and hoped to one day tag Bigfoot.
He loved watching movies. He could recite any sequence of any Rambo movie and loved to throw a random movie quote or line at you at any moment. He loved music (ranking Tool as his favorite band), lifting weights, and through the years he had several hunting dogs he held close to his heart…Goose, Rambo, Wilson and Bane to name a few. On any given Sunday, you would find him watching football, either cheering on or cussing out his team, the Seattle Seahawks, while feeding the ones he loved.
If you knew Ben, he was the life of the party. He loved making people laugh and told the most hilarious stories. He was bigger than life and the most unforgettable person you could ever meet.
Ben is survived by Brooke Hix; daughters, Olivia Hix, Kamryn Hix, and Stella Hix; parents, Randy and Michaelena Hix; sisters, Malina (Morgan) Daw and Whitney (Lane) Virgin.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Florence Hix, and John and Beverly Crouch.
A private family service will be held on May 22, 2026. Ben will be interred at Grant Central Cemetery. The family is planning a Celebration of Life in the fall in honor of Ben’s favorite season. Details to be provided at a later date.
“Best of all, he loved the fall. Leaves yellow on the cotton woods, leaves floating on the trout stream, and above the hills, the clear blue windless sky. Now, he’ll be part of them forever!” -Ernest Hemingway
