REXBURG — Rexburg Pride Inc. will be putting on the sixth annual Rexburg Pride event in Porter Park on Saturday, June 20, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m, according to a news release.

The free event will include a program featuring local performers, vendors, food, local businesses and nonprofits, community art projects, a unity walk around the park, and a number of family-friendly activities, according to the release.

The event will open with an interactive gathering activity that will involve singing, drumming, and more, the release states. The program will feature live music performances and more interactive opportunities for the crowd, including a “fit-check” and a fun “quiz show” activity.

“Our activities during the Rexburg Pride Festival focus on building relationships and fostering a sense of community,” activity director Lorene Nance said in the release. “Rexburg prides itself on being ‘America’s Family Community,’ and we’re excited to contribute to that spirit by creating a space with fun activities where all families and individuals feel welcome and celebrated. Come join us!”

The event typically sees between 1,000 and 1,500 people each year. Rexburg Pride coordinates with city officials each year to keep the event running smoothly and is working with Gem State Security to help ensure it is a positive and safe experience for those attending, according to the release.

“Pride is, of course, a celebration,” Pride Director Annalisa Waite said in the release. “But it is also an opportunity; it is a chance to connect people to resources, it is a chance to educate, it’s a chance to build community, and it is a chance for allies to show up for their friends, family members, and neighbors and say, ‘we’re with you.’ That’s something this community needs to witness from allies now more than ever.”
