BOISE — Idaho State Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit on Interstate-84 late Saturday — an incident that prompted a 13-hour closure of the freeway.

The crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. on I-84 near mile marker 67, according to an ISP news release. That’s about 12½ miles southeast of Boise.

“A vehicle was pulled over on the westbound side of I-84,” the release states. “The driver exited the vehicle and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on I-84.”

State police did not release information on why the driver got out of the vehicle or the extent of that person’s injuries.

It is also unclear whether the driver who hit the person was injured or whether they were being questioned by police.

“The westbound lanes of I84 were blocked for approximately 13 hours, allowing emergency responders to assist those involved and clear the scene,” the release states.

Troopers say their investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.
