BEAR LAKE — A person boating on Bear Lake lost both of their legs in an accident over the weekend.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office shared details about the incident on Facebook, along with several other calls deputies responded to at the lake.

Few details were provided on the accident, other than the victim experienced “a double amputation.”

“The victim was lifelighted from the scene. Bystanders and medics did an amazing job with medical care prior to transport,” the Facebook post says.

Other calls for help included a sinking boat with people on board, which resulted in all passengers being safely removed from the water.

Deputies also rescued a child from a locked car as temperatures climbed above 90 degrees and responded to a serious vehicle crash in which one person was airlifted to a hospital.
