EIRMC Burn Center recognized among top facilities in the nation

IDAHO FALLS — The Burn & Reconstructive Center at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center has received verification from the American Burn Association, placing it among just 81 verified burn centers nationwide and recognizing it as one of the country’s highest-performing facilities for specialized burn care.
The designation follows a comprehensive, multi-day on-site review by the American Burn Association, which evaluated the center’s staff, resources and patient care systems. The review confirmed the Idaho Falls facility meets the nation’s highest standards for quality, safety and comprehensive burn treatment—from emergency care through long-term recovery.
“Verification by the American Burn Association reflects the depth of our expertise across every aspect of burn care and reinforces that patients can trust our team to provide the highest level of specialized treatment,” said Dr. Tait Olaveson, burn surgeon and medical director of EIRMC’s burn program. “It confirms that we meet the highest standard of burn care and are the regional experts.”
EIRMC operates Idaho’s only burn center and is the only facility of its kind serving Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota. While there are 143 burn centers across the country, only 81 have earned ABA verification, according to a news release.
The center relies on a multidisciplinary team that includes burn surgeons, critical care physicians, specialized nurses, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, dietitians, case managers and social workers. It also works closely with hospitals and clinics across the region to coordinate specialized care for burn patients.
In addition to emergency and intensive care, EIRMC provides reconstructive surgery, skin grafting, rehabilitation services, outpatient follow-up care, psychological support, burn prevention education and the region’s only ventilator-capable hyperbaric oxygen treatment chamber. The hospital also houses Idaho’s only dedicated burn operating room.
