RIGBY – Three people escaped a vehicle fire near Rigby Friday night.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. at mile marker 319, which is near the County Line Road exit, according to Jefferson County’s Central Fire District Chief Nic White.

The cause of the fire is unclear, but the driver and its passengers pulled over and got out unharmed. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jennifer Fullmer tells EastIdahoNews.com there were three teenage girls inside the vehicle.

Firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames within minutes.

“It did catch the grass on fire, so we had to contain a little brush fire along the freeway,” White says.

White didn’t know the make and model of the vehicle.

White explains that the slowdown in traffic resulted in a minor crash in the vicinity of the blaze. It also had no injuries and was quickly cleaned up by first responders.
