Ticket to ride: Community youth group to give away vintage car in raffle

IDAHO FALLS — Ever wanted to own a vintage car? A local youth group is looking to give one away as part of its fundraiser to supports its program.
The vehicle is a 1959 Triumph tr3 Roadster. The vehicle is a standard, meaning whoever wins the car will need to know how to drive a manual.
As part of a fundraising effort, Community Youth in Action has been selling raffle tickets since July for the vintage car, raising $20,952 as of this writing.
The raffle — C’YA on the Streets — ends Friday, and you still have a chance to buy tickets, as ticket sales end Friday at 7 p.m.
The winner will be announced after a car parade that starts at 5:50 p.m. at the ISU Science Center Drive and ends at 1070 Riverwalk Drive. Community members with show cars are welcome to join the parade.
EastIdahoNews.com spoke with Becky Leatham, CYA’s executive director, who said that the nonprofit received the car in the fall from a woman whose husband had passed away.
She said the woman’s late husband maintained the vehicle and that it still had its original window stickers from when it was bought in 1959.
With more than 800 tickets sold, Leatham said she loves seeing the community support this program and the youths it helps.
CYA was founded in 2018 with an initial goal of keeping local youth drug-free, but that mission has since evolved. It offers an after-school program for kids, and SPARC helps youth avoid ending up in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems through early intervention.

“So everything we do at CYA is completely free, and so when people support us, it helps keep all of that free for youth in our community,” Leatham said.
Those interested in buying a raffle ticket can buy one at cyaidaho.org. Each ticket costs $25 for 1 or $100 for 5.
