Robert Martineau

Robert Martineau, age 73, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away on August 28th, 2026 while doing something he loved best, fishing with his family.

He was born on June 22, 1953 to Thouis E. and Mabel June (Tyler) Martineau in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up in the Ammon Foothills where he could ride his horses right from house into the hills. He grew up loving to hunt deer and elk with his brother and dad and enjoyed being spoiled by his mom and his sisters. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1971. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in the New York, Palmyra mission. He was able to participate in the Pageant at the Hill Cumorah and was able to serve on the Seneca Indian Reservation where he developed a love for the Indian people he served.

Upon returning from his mission he continued to attend Ricks College where he earned his associate’s degree. It was at college that he met his sweetheart Julie Flamm. He knew she was the right girl for him because when he held her hand it felt just right. They were married August 2nd, 1975 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He began his career in the construction industry selling and building homes for Boise Cascade. He owned his own business building agricultural buildings and grain bins. He later worked for Anheuser Busch as a grain operator.

He was the best kind of girl dad to his five daughters. He wasn’t the kind of girl dad that had tea parties and did hair, but instead taught his girls to camp, fish, hunt and to ride horses. Hobbies he enjoyed were his horses, golfing, RZR riding and spending winters in Overton, Nevada. He easily made friends everywhere he went and they became friends for life. He was a renown storyteller and kept everyone entertained with stories – some true, some we were not so sure about. He loved telling stories about his dog Ty and their adventures.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various callings, including Elders Quorum President, High Council member and a counselor in the bishopric. His favorite calling was to serve with the young men. He was a great example and mentor to them.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; his five beautiful daughters, Lyndsay (Greg) Goody, Kellie (Brett) Wilde, Lori (Zac) Fillmore, Annie (Matt) Bingham, and Rachael (Brandon) Rainey, as well as 19 grandchildren, with 5 amazing grandkids added in marriage, 5 great grandchildren with three more on the way. We are sure Grandpa is teaching them some great tricks!

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, a sister, Shirley, and a brother, Glen. Sadly, he was joined in death by his beloved son-in-law, Brandon Rainey, and his best dog buddy, Ty.

A viewing will be held at the Ucon, Idaho Stake Center, located at 2967 E 105 N, Ucon, ID 83454, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 in the Ucon, Idaho Stake center at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.
