New RV repair shop offers maintenance-free roofs

IDAHO FALLS — “Say goodbye to yearly recaulking and repairs on your RV roof,” because a new family business is offering maintenance-free roofs with a lifetime warranty.
Hamblin RV Roof, located at 3166 Lockheed Circle, is owned by David, Josh and Kyle Hamblin. Kyle and David are brothers, and Josh is a cousin. The RV roof repair business will officially open on Monday, Sept. 7.
“What we offer is a product called FlexArmor, which is essentially a spray-on roof that has no seams and is maintenance-free. FlexArmor was created in Florida 21 years ago,” David said.
According to its website, FlexArmor is built to last, doesn’t require maintenance, won’t develop punctures, and comes with a 100 percent no-leak guarantee.
“It’s a lifetime warranty. So any damage or any problems with it, it’s a 100 percent transferable warranty,” Josh said.
The website explains that “FlexArmor is made with a tough, leak-proof polyurea created exclusively for RV roofs.”
“People drive under a tree with a bad branch, and you might have bought that trailer yesterday; you might be putting a new roof on tomorrow. This product can withstand up to 3,500 PSI tear strength. So it would take a lot to damage this roof,” David said.
David said many RV manufacturers will say that you should caulk the roof each year because of how it breaks down in the sun and in the weather. But FlexArmor doesn’t require that.
“You’ve got the guy that finds himself climbing up on his roof every spring, summer or fall to make sure his roof is protected. That essentially goes away. He no longer has to wonder if his roof is OK. There’s just a lot of peace of mind that you have a permanent solution,” David said.
David, Kyle and Josh all have RVs and grew up with them in their families. David said they always went on a lot of campouts, hunting and fishing trips.
All three of them are excited to bring FlexArmor to Idaho Falls and offer it in the community. They did a lot of research on it and are confident in the product.
“I come from an electrical contractor background. I like stuff that lasts. This product has been around long enough … it works really great. And if there is a problem, you’re covered. So spend your money once, or live to regret and spend money multiple times,” Kyle said.
“If you do the research, it’s pretty exciting to know as a person offering that product, but then also as a customer actually doing the research and realizing what they are getting. I feel like it’s well worth their money,” Josh added.

FlexArmor has about 50 service centers across the United States and a location in Canada. If someone were to get their roof done in Idaho Falls, and they were traveling with their RV and had a problem, they could stop at any of those other shops to receive service.
Some of the closest service areas to Idaho Falls include St. George, Utah; Kalispell, Montana; Denver, Colorado; and Richland, Washington.

Chuck-A-Rama celebrates 60 years of bringing families together

It all started in 1966
Founded by Donald Moss, Alva Greene and Wayne Chamberlain, Chuck-A-Rama opened its first location in downtown Salt Lake City on Sept. 6, 1966. For Duane Moss, son of Don Moss, the memories started before the first guest ever walked through the door.
“I had just turned 7 years old when the doors first opened, and I remember helping my grandfather roll out the carpet and handing fence slats to my dad while he hammered them onto the rails bordering the east parking lot,” Moss recalls. “I guess this was when I was first unofficially employed at Chuck-A-Rama.”
That first job turned into more than 50 years on the payroll and a lifetime connected to Chuck-A-Rama.
Recipes rooted in tradition
“Our niche has always been homemade comfort food,” said Mike Hermansen, food and beverage director. “Many of our recipes have been passed down through generations from pioneer and family recipes to favorites shared by our own employees and neighbors. Those traditions aren’t just part of our menu; they’re part of who we are.”
For example, the rice pudding traces its roots to an old Swedish recipe from the great-grandmother of former company president Mike Johanson. Scones and carrot salad have stood the test of time alongside longtime favorites like bread pudding, apple crisp, turkey dressing, and Chuck-A-Rama’s signature fried chicken.
“Celebrating 60 years is really about the people who have made Chuck-A-Rama part of their lives,” said Jennifer Hood, creative director at Chuck-A-Rama. “We have guests who remember coming here as children and are now bringing their own children and grandchildren. That kind of loyalty means everything to us, and this celebration is our way of saying thank you to the communities and guests who have welcomed us to their tables for six decades.”
About that name…
After 60 years, we know you’re wondering, “Why Chuck-A-Rama?”
The name has its origin from a combination of the Old West chuckwagons, the Boy Scouts’ Scout-O-Rama, and a little 1960s creativity. And somehow, it works.
The name has inspired its fair share of affectionate nicknames over the years like “Uncle Chuck’s” and “Chuck-A-Grandmas.” Duane even once joked about launching an ad campaign announcing a slightly more sophisticated rebrand: Charles A. Rama.
Thankfully, Chuck-A-Rama stuck.
