Woman appears in court after allegedly filming jurors in Lindsay Clancy trial

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — A woman was arraigned in court Wednesday morning after she was arrested for allegedly filming jurors in the Lindsay Clancy case Tuesday afternoon.
Dawn Light, 56, pleaded not guilty to charges of intimidation of a jury member and has been ordered to stay away from the Plymouth County Superior Court.
Prosecutor Nicole Pearson said Light entered an employee parking lot at the courthouse and parked at the back with a view of the door used by court personnel.

Surveillance video shows Pearson using her phone to take photos or video, according to the prosecutor. Massachusetts State Police troopers approached Light and asked if she was using her phone to take photos.
“She was adamant she was not. She was waiting to see if Lindsay Clancy would come out of the building,” Pearson said in the arraignment hearing.
Light gave troopers her phone, and there were no photos or videos of anyone in the parking lot. Troopers then asked if they could review the images in Light’s deleted folder.
That’s where troopers found numerous videos and photos of people entering and exiting the building, including jurors, according to Pearson.
“The sanctity of the judicial system is at risk because of her actions. It’s an extremely serious matter,” Pearson told Judge Shelby Smith.

Light’s attorney said the situation was a “complete misunderstanding.”
“She was trying to take a picture of Ms. Clancy and had no intention of any interaction with the jurors. She understands the seriousness of the charge,” Light’s attorney said.
Light is a retired nurse with no criminal background. Prosecutors asked that she be held on a $50,000 cash bond, but the judge denied the request.
Light agreed to stay away from the courthouse and not contact anyone associated with the case. She is scheduled to appear again in court on Oct. 15.
