One person dead after morning crash near Alpine; two sent to hospital with minor injuries

ALPINE, Wyoming — An early morning crash on U.S. Highway 26 near Alpine, Wyoming, has resulted in one person’s death and minor injuries to two others.
According to the Alpine Fire District’s Facebook page, at around 8 a.m. Friday, the AFD responded to a two-vehicle crash on US-26 near Indian Creek.
A news release from Idaho State Police states that a 1999 Porsche Carrer driven by a 71-year-old man from McKinney Texas was going eastbound on U.S. Highway 26 when it crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup. The driver of the Ram, a 36-year-old man from Afton, Wyoming and the passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Afton, were taken to Star Valley Health with minor injuries.
The 71-year-old man died at the scene, succumbing to the injuries he sustianed in the crash. The release states that all individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
ISP, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Swan Valley Fire, Idaho Transporations Department and Alpine Wyoming EMS responded to the crash.
The release states that an investigation of the crash is ongoing.
