Officials identify man who died in fatal crash near Alpine

IDAHO FALLS — Local officials have released the name of the 71-year-old man who died in a crash on U.S. Highway 26 Friday morning.
Bonneville County Coroner Shante Sanchez identified the man as James Hanna of McKinney, Texas.
According to a news release from Idaho State Police, first responders were dispatched around 8 a.m. to US-26 near Indian Creek after a report of a crash involving two vehicles.

ISP learned that a 1999 Porsche Carrera, driven by Hanna, had crossed into the westbound lane, where it collided with a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup. The driver of the pickup and its passenger, a 36-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman from Afton, Wyoming, were taken to Star Valley Health with minor injuries.
Despite both vehicles’ occupants wearing seatbelts, Hanna died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.
ISP, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Swan Valley Fire, Idaho Transportation Department and Alpine Wyoming EMS responded.
The release states that ISP is still investigating the crash.
