William “Bill” D. Bott
August 7th, 1938 - August 9th, 2026
William “Bill” D. Bott, 88, died on August 9, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Bill was born on August 7, 1938, in Kane, Pennsylvania, to Francis Bott and Pauline Bott. He was the second of four children. In 1947, the Bott family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Francis was employed as a well driller.
In 1957, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Wava McKnight, and they had three children, Cindy, William “Bill”, and Robert “Bob”.
Bill served in the United States Army as a code decipherer, stationed in Paris, France, before returning to Idaho Falls.
Bill drove a delivery truck for Eddy’s Bread for many years before beginning his career in automotive and truck sales. In 1988, Bill and his son, Bob, formed a partnership and started Bott Yamaha, which they owned and operated for 36 years and sold in 2024.
Bill enjoyed riding his stand-up jet ski, motorcycles, four-wheelers, and sided-by-sides, and exploring the back country on snowmobiles. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grand kids and teaching them to ride. He enjoyed sharing his passion for motor sports with others and giving everyone a chance to ride.
He and Wava spent as much time as possible at their cabin in Island Park. He also enjoyed his model railroad and traveling around the world with Wava.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wava Bott; and brothers, Carl Bott and George Bott.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Bill) Poitevin of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bill Bott of Eagle, ID; son, Bob (Collette) Bott of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Patricia Hambree of North Carolina; and grandchildren; Emily Poitevin, Elijah Bott, Amanda (Michael Barber) Poitevin, McKenzie Bott, Rylee Bott, and Andrew Bott; and two great-grandchildren.
