Irene Estelle Archibald

Irene Estelle Archibald, 86, of Ammon, passed away September 13, 2026, at Gables of Ammon. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Irene was born March 14, 1940, in Blackfoot, ID, to Charles Fredrick Johnson and Gladys Estelle Stone Johnson. She grew up and attended schools in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School.

On September 10, 1960, she married Veldon C. Archibald in Blackfoot, ID. Irene and Veldon made their home in Idaho Falls for several years, and they were later divorced. Then, Irene worked several professions as sales and as a buyer for ABC Kiddie Shop, and an office manager for Gem State Fire Protection. Together, they had two sons, Scott and Kelly.

She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed golf, embroidery, bowling and playing cards.

Irene is survived by her son, Scott (Anita) Archibald of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Kelly (Rakelle) Archibald of Pocatello, ID; brother, Larry Dean Johnson of Blackfoot, ID; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and 3 more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gladys Johnson, and brother, Charles Duane Johnson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery.
