1 injured, 1 arrested in Saturday night stabbing in Rexburg, police say

REXBURG — One person was arrested for investigation of aggravated battery following a stabbing that seriously injured another person on Saturday night in Rexburg.
Rexburg police say it was about 8 p.m. when they received a report of a stabbing that happened at “a residence on S. 2nd East.” When they arrived, first responders found a person with “significant lacerations,” according to a statement from the police department.
The statement does not identify the injured person, but it says he or she received medical treatment and was listed as “stable.”
Through their investigation, officers identified a suspect — also not named in the statement — and obtained a search warrant for that person’s residence. That person was booked into the Madison County Jail for investigation of aggravated battery, according to the statement.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted Rexburg police with their investigation, according to the statement, and the police department offered its gratitude to: Madison County Sheriff’s Office, St. Anthony Police Department, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Teton County Sheriff’s Office.
