WATCH LIVE: Day 5 of trial for Caleb Flynn, former ‘American Idol’ contestant charged with murder

The woman who says she carried on a years-long affair with Caleb Flynn will resume her testimony Thursday in the former “American Idol” contestant’s murder trial. Caleb, a 40-year-old Ohio man known for his 2013 appearance on the reality TV singing competition, now stands accused of killing his wife, Ashley Flynn.

Ashley, a 37-year-old mother of two, was fatally shot inside the couple’s Tipp City, Ohio, home on Feb. 16 of this year. In a 911 call made early that morning, Caleb told dispatchers he had been sleeping in another room and woke up to find his wife dead. He said he thought someone had broken into their home and shot Ashley.

Three days later, police placed Caleb under arrest for investigation of murder and evidence tampering. Prosecutors later charged him with multiple felonies, alleging he shot and killed Ashley and then staged the crime scene to look like a burglary-gone-wrong. His motive, they say, was a desperation to continue a romantic relationship with his mistress, Alleigha Botner.

Botner took the stand on Wednesday afternoon and is expected to be questioned most of the day Thursday.
