Missing hunter found dead following search

CUSTER COUNTY — A hunter who had been reported missing in Custer County has been found dead.
Kelly King was located at about 12:20 p.m. Thursday after Air Idaho Rescue spotted a Polaris UTV matching the description of his vehicle in the Morgan Creek/Gooseberry area, according to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
The UTV was found off the trail on a hillside among sagebrush. Ground crews with Custer County Search and Rescue reached the vehicle and found King deceased. Authorities later confirmed his identity.
Search teams had been looking for King in the area after he was reported overdue.
Several agencies and organizations assisted in the search, including Custer County Search and Rescue, Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit, Civil Air Patrol, Idaho National Guard, Idaho Fish and Game, Salmon Search & Rescue, Air Idaho Rescue and the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. Members of the public also assisted.
Officials expressed their condolences to King’s family and friends.
