Fall chill arrives in eastern Idaho with cooler week ahead

IDAHO FALLS – Temperatures are expected to be 10-15 degrees colder Saturday, kicking off a week of cooler temperatures across eastern Idaho.
That’s the forecast from the National Weather Service in Pocatello. In a Facebook post Friday night, the NWS says temperatures are expected to be in the 60s. A chance of rain is in store on Monday as a system moves through Sunday night.
With the exception of the Montpelier and Preston area, where temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s, daytime highs on Saturday will be in the upper 60s throughout the region, with overnight lows in the 30s and 40s.
On Sunday, mid to upper 70s are likely. Arco, Challis and Island Park will see mid to upper 60s.
By Monday, forecasters says temperatures will be in the 60s nearly across the board. While there is a slight chance of rain across the valley, the areas most likely to get it include Driggs, Island Park, Montpelier, Preston and Soda Springs.
Conditions are looking pretty dry the rest of the week with cooler temperatures continuing through Saturday, October 3.
Summer officially ended on Tuesday with the autumnal equinox, which means the number of daylight hours will gradually decrease. Daylight Saving Time ends on November 1, when we’ll set our clocks back an hour.
