Claudette Murphy Clinton, age 77, passed away peacefully in her home October 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband and family.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, to the late J.Z. and Angie Fairley Murphy, Claudette was a true Southern Belle—kind, sweet, deeply positive, always smiling, and ready to give comfort and hugs. She possessed a selfless heart —placing others first and herself last. She loved the Lord deeply, and her life reflected His goodness and love for others.

In 1970, Claudette married the love of her life, Charles Elmer Clinton, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they built a wonderful life and a loving family. They raised their children in Plano, Idaho, living in their home there for 44 years before moving to Idaho Falls in 2020.

As a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Claudette faithfully served in various callings and positions within her ward and the temple throughout her life.

Claudette dedicated 30 years of her life to shaping young minds as a kindergarten teacher, spending the majority of her career at Central Elementary in Sugar City, Idaho. Beyond her career and devotion to her students, Claudette found immense joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. She loved being surrounded by her family, tending to her plants and flowers in the garden, cooking and baking, enjoying a treat of ice cream and cookies, riding her bike, practicing the piano, and thoughtfully crafting handmade cards for special occasions.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Charles Elmer Clinton, and her five children: Charles E. Clinton Jr., Angela O’Rullian (Jim), Heath Edward Clinton (Mindy), Valerie Waite (Gerry), and Christina Stubbs (Jeffrey). She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Claudette was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Steve Richard Murphy and Keith Jeffrey Murphy; and her beloved grandchildren, Heath E. Clinton Jr. (“Bud”) and Aspen Rose Clinton.

Though she has left this physical world, the warmth of her smile, the comfort of her hugs, and the profound depth of her service remain etched in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

A viewing will be held on Thursday October 8th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Flamm Funeral Home (61 N. First E., Rexburg, ID). Funeral services will be held Friday October 9th at 11:00 AM at the LDS Chapel in Plano, located at 5973 N. 5000 W., Rexburg, ID. Visitation prior to service from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Burial will follow at the Sugar City Cemetery (804-834 N. 16th E., Sugar City, ID).
