Idaho gas prices falling — but for how long?

The following is a news release from the American Automobile Association in Idaho.
BOISE – Idaho drivers are experiencing a little relief at the gas pumps, but amid turbulent oil prices, the feeling may change faster than the fall colors.
AAA reports that Monday’s average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $4.80. That’s nine cents less than a week ago and five cents less than a month ago, but $1.36 more than a year ago.
The national average currently sits at $4.29 per gallon, which is six cents cheaper than a week ago and 18 cents less than a month ago, but $1.26 more than a year ago. Idaho spent another week in 7th place for the most expensive fuel.
“You see the falling prices and your first thought may be that the worst is behind us. Unfortunately, crude oil volatility is still a concern,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “The West Texas Intermediate benchmark for crude oil is now trading near $102 per barrel, which may put additional strain on everything from jet fuel to gasoline to delivery charges.”
Today’s crude oil price is about $9 more than a week ago, $10 more than a month ago, and an astonishing $45 more per barrel than a year ago. Until there are lasting resolutions to conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, drivers may experience a roller coaster of prices at the pump.
AAA reminds drivers to consolidate their daily errands wherever possible and to consider booking their plane tickets for year-end holiday travel as soon as possible.
