Faith Hedgepeth Trial, Day 8: Text messages, barbecue host testifies, jail calls and defendant’s words revealed
Published atIt’s Day 8 of the murder trial of Miguel Salguero-Olivares, the man accused of killing 19-year-old Faith Hedgepeth in 2012.
On Friday, jurors heard new revelations, read emotional text messages, and got a glimpse into what investigators spent nearly a decade trying to uncover.
DNA expert testimony linked Miguel Salguero-Olivares to semen found in Faith’s body, but witnesses who testified about a late-night barbecue near her apartment could not confirm he was there.
Investigators also walked jurors through Hedgepeth’s final text messages, the yearslong search for her killer, and a recorded exchange in which Salguero-Olivares questions how his DNA could be connected to a woman he said he had never met.
