IDAHO FALLS — One day after fire damaged a portion of the Ball Ventures office building at Snake River Landing, the company issued a statement thanking emergency responders and announcing a temporary closure.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to emergency responders, including the Idaho Falls Fire Department and Police Department,” reads the statement, issued Sunday. “Their swift, professional response brought the situation under control and ensured the safety of everyone involved.”

The fire was first reported about 9:20 a.m. on Saturday at 2194 Snake River Parkway. Only one person was inside the office building at the time and was able to get out safely, the Idaho Falls Fire Department said.

Black smoke and flames could be seen coming from the building’s roof for a time, and EastIdahoNews.com received several photos of the fire from community members.

Firefighters eventually extinguished the flames and said most of the fire damage was contained to the building’s third floor and roof. There was also some water damage throughout the structure, they said.

“Our building and all tenant offices will remain temporarily closed while the incident is under investigation and crews work to repair the damage,” the Ball Ventures’ statement says.

Investigators were still working Sunday to determine the cause of the fire. The cost of property damage is also being assessed, but officials said Saturday it’s estimated at more than $250,000.

Ball Ventures is a “commercial real estate investment, development and private equity company,” according to the company’s website.
