Frank and Belinda VanderSloot are looking for a machine operator and property manager to oversee daily operations and care of a BEAUTIFUL 15-home village, located on an 8,000-acre working cattle ranch located on the northern slopes of the Big Island of Hawaii. Housing is included. This role is ideal for someone who is self-directed and comfortable managing both residential properties and operating large equipment.

The property manager will be responsible for clearing land with an excavator and Caterpillar tractor and maintaining facilities, managing tenants, and ensuring the overall functionality and security of the property.

Key responsibilities

Property & facilities management

  • Oversee and maintain 15 residential homes, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and well-maintained
  • Manage and maintain the community hall, barn and additional outbuildings
  • Oversee the water supply and storage system, including monitoring, basic maintenance and coordination of repairs
  • Perform or oversee routine maintenance, repairs and preventative upkeep across all structures

Tenant management

  • Screen and retain reliable tenants
  • Serve as primary point of contact for tenant needs, concerns and coordination of maintenance
  • Ensure lease compliance and support a positive, respectful community environment

Equipment & grounds

  • Operate heavy equipment to clear trees from ranch land
  • Assist with general land and infrastructure upkeep

Qualifications & experience

  • Experience as an equipment operator (tractors, utility vehicles or similar)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Good people skills

  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Tenant-facing people skills is a strong plus

Additional details

  • This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring flexibility and self-management
  • Large equipment skills, mechanical skills and light carpentry skills are highly desirable

Job type: Full time

Pay: Salary of $55,000.00 per year plus bonuses. Plus home.
