Ann Marshall

Ann Marshall passed away the morning of September 23, 2026, at Morning Star Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the age of 89.

Ann was born October 17, 1936, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Thomas Cloyd Neville and Regina Archibald Neville. The fourth of six girls, she grew up during the Depression in a close-knit family where everyone worked hard, made do with what they had, and took care of one another. She graduated from Madison High School in 1954 and attended a semester at Ricks College studying interior design.

Ann met Don Marshall one morning when he stopped to offer her a ride to school. She had seen him at church, so accepted the ride. Don mistakenly took Ann to the high school, not realizing she was actually in college! Their love blossomed from there and Ann and Don were married June 20, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They shared 63 years together before Don’s death in 2019.

Ann and Don raised four children together: Bruce, Bret, Susan, and Jeanne. Ann spent most of those years as a stay-at-home mother, but she was rarely idle. She gardened, canned, cleaned, sewed, and baked. Her children always knew they could count on her. She was patient and dependable, but she also expected honesty, hard work, and respect. As a grandmother, she helped care for several of her grandchildren when they were young, spending hours reading to them, playing games, and participating in their antics.

Ann loved flowers, gardening, reading, music, playing cards, and a good laugh. She and Don grew a large garden each year, preserved much of what they grew, and gave away even more. Beneath her proper exterior was a playful sense of humor, and when Ann got “the giggles” with her daughters, the laughter could easily turn to tears. Ann’s faith was also an important and constant part of her life. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings throughout her life.

After Don’s death, declining mobility eventually required Ann to leave her home and move into assisted living. It was not a change she welcomed, and she missed Don profoundly. Yet even as her own world became smaller, her circle of compassion seemed to grow. She developed genuine affection for the people who cared for her, learned their names even as her memory began to fail, and proudly introduced them to visiting family members. Her caregivers returned that affection, and many came to genuinely love her.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her daughter, Susan; one great-grandchild; her parents; and her sisters Regina “Jean” Beebe, Catherine Jolley, and Reah Clark. She is survived by her children Bruce, Bret, and Jeanne; her sisters Bonnie Munns and Ruth Munns; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchild.

Ann lived a good, rich, and full life. She was a kind soul, a loving mother, a faithful servant, and a genuinely good person who loved—and was loved—very much. Her family will remember her strong hands working bread dough on the kitchen counter, a little flour on her cheek, the crinkles around her light-blue eyes, and the smile that greeted them when they walked through the door. She will be profoundly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Sutton Cemetery (578 East 7000 South) in Rexburg, Idaho. Immediate family will gather at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby at 9:00 a.m. for a family prayer before proceeding to the cemetery.

On that final drive, Ann will pass once more by the place where she and Don raised their children—the little home on their 22 acres outside of Ririe where so much of their family’s life unfolded—before being laid to rest beside Don with Susan nearby.
