Bruce Dale Hill passed away at home on Oct. 31, 2023. He was born January 23, 48 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Dale A. and Betty Jean Owens Hill. He is the oldest of nine children. He was raised on the family farm in Twin Groves.

He attended South Fremont High School, graduating in 1966. Bruce served with the 116th National Guard Unit 1967-1969, with one year of active duty in Vietnam. He later attended Ricks College and graduated in 1988 as the Outstanding Beef Production Management student.

Bruce worked at the old Louisiana Pacific Saw Mill, Schuldies Dairy, Kent Remington, Blair Fisher’s Ranch, Assistant Manager at the Rexburg CAL Ranch Stores, Spudnik, and prior to his accident that left him disabled was a property tax appraiser for Fremont County, Idaho. He loved the people he worked with and they remained his life-long friends. His other loves were the horses and cattle that he owned, leatherwork, and watching a good bucking horse. His greatest love was being involved in the lives in his kids & grandkids.

On October 30, 1970 Bruce married Gracie Ann Waples in Elko, Nevada—they eloped. Marriage was later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing. He made sure she had flowers one last time. He is survived by his wife Gracie and his children: Kay Lynn (Joe) Nield of Afton, Wyoming, JD (Emmy) Hill of Ranchester, Wyoming, Jim (Nyla) Hill of St Anthony, Idaho and Kristen (Casey) Shelman of Burns, Oregon and Sophia Ann Hill of St. Anthony. They have nineteen grandchildren: McKay (Seth) Haderlie of Grantsville, Utah; Codi, Wyatt, Jamie, Kimberlee (Rustin) Rinderknecht, Page, and Seth Nield of Afton, Wyoming; Shayna Newman of Billings, Montana and Maddy Hill of Ranchester, Wyoming; Jessi, Kate, Bailey, Chet, Chase, and Clay Hill of St. Anthony, Idaho; and Ivan, Zane, Hazel, and Jace Shelman of Burns, Oregon. Two great grandchildren, Josephine Lynn Torczon and Ryker Haderlie.

Survived by his mother Betty Jean Hill of St. Anthony, brothers: Richard (Julie Ann) Hill of Idaho Falls, Jeff Hill of Meridian, Brett (Matthew) Hill of Mexico and Chris (Becky) Hill of St. Anthony; sisters: Shauna Ringel of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Marianne (Steve) Bowman of Idaho Falls, Lisa (Rick) Turner of St. Anthony and brother-in-law Gary Wells of Rosebud Creek, Montana, Russell (Susan) Waples of Terry, Montana, Howard Waples of Billings, Montana, sister-in-law Joey (Nick) Mothershead of Brockway, Montana and many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Dale A. Hill and brother, Scott Hill, & brothers-in-law Brad Ringel and Shane Waples sisters-in-law, Faye Wells and Peggy Kay Waples.

Viewing Friday, November 3, 2023 at the St. Anthony, Idaho Stake Center from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023 viewing starts at 12:30 p.m.. Interment in Wilford Cemetery. Military rites by the St. Anthony VFW. Family luncheon at St. Anthony 2nd Ward Building following burial.
