Bruce Woodland Hampton, age 69, of Grant, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at his home, seven months after a surprising diagnosis of heart failure. He spent the last month of his life surrounded by dear friends and his loving family.

Bruce was born October 27, 1955, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Orin Arthur Hampton and Velma Woodland. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1974. He continued his education at Ricks College and Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983. This enabled him to reach his goal to become a licensed Social Worker.

On January 5, 1979, he married his eternal sweetheart Renae Olaveson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They moved to the Provo-Orem area for twelve years where all five children joined their family. After graduation, Bruce was employed at Timpanogos Mental Health, where he enjoyed helping others and making lifelong friendships. In the fall of 1991, they moved back to Southeast Idaho in Grant where they built their forever dream home. Many special and unforgettable memories were made in their backyard with family and friends.

After moving back to Idaho, Bruce worked for the State of Idaho for seven years, and then in 1998, he and two friends started an Adult Mental Health business together, Rehabilitative Health Services. He enjoyed growing this business and showed true Christlike love to countless people helping them find peace and coping skills.

Bruce was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A highlight of his life was to serve as a representative of Jesus Christ in the New Zealand Wellington Mission. Throughout his life he had various callings, however his favorite was serving the Primary children. Together, he and Renae served as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls Temple, on campus at BYU-I, and in November they completed their lifetime dream of serving together as missionaries in the Idaho Idaho Falls Mission office.

He enjoyed traveling with Renae, and they loved seeing the world together. Bruce enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, and spending time with his family who were his best friends. Bruce loved life and had compassion for all people connecting deeply with them and helping them feel valued. We will miss his smile, his laugh, his humor, his love, and the way he lit up a room.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Renae; and his five amazing children: son, Christopher Scott Hampton of Ammon; son, Brett Lamar (Celeste) Hampton of Rigby; daughter, Erin Renae (McKay) Womack of Rigby; daughter, Jill Marie (Cody) Patterson of Idaho Falls; son, Jason Bruce (Leslee) Hampton of Hacienda Heights, California; and fourteen loved and adored grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Ellie) Hampton of Idaho Falls, Rodger (Debbie) Hampton of Rexburg, and Douglas (Beverly) Hampton of West Point, UT; sister, Margene (Stephen) Reed of Hyrum, UT; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Orin Arthur Hampton; his mother, Velma Woodland Hampton; and his brother, Gary Lee Hampton; and two nephews, Norman Gunderson, and Bryan Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Rigby South Stake Center, 106 North 3800 East, Rigby, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the services, both visitations will be held at the church. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery.
