Carol Anne Neumann

Carol Anne Neumann (Berg) passed away in her Ashton home on April 1, 2024 at the age of 82. Carol was a loving and giving mom, grandma and great grandma.

Carol was born November 13, 1941 in Brainerd, MN to Mildred and Harry Berg. After a long distance courtship, in 1962, she married Cliff Neumann, a boy she met at the county fair. They had their first son, Falan, a year later in Brainerd, MN. They then moved to Idaho making their home at McCrea’s Ranch in Island Park, ID. They welcomed their sweet little Sheila on September 27, 1966. They later bought their home in Marysville where they welcomed their daughter, Stacy, on November 1, 1971.

Carol worked alongside her husband doing various Forest Service contracts, working in the timber, and raising cattle and horses. She then was employed at Basic American Foods in Rexburg, ID for 25 years. During that time, she had her surprise baby girl, Kristina on Easter Sunday, April 22,1984. Sadly, Carol would lose her daughter Sheila 6 weeks later, and her son Falan would pass away in 2002.

Although life handed her many struggles and challenges she found joy in her family and the outdoors. She enjoyed raising her children, camping, horseback riding, traveling, and visiting her family in Minnesota. She was an avid reader her entire life, she enjoyed reading for hours, and as a young child she could be found tucked away in a corner reading a book. One of her greatest joys was bird watching, growing a garden and making beautiful flower beds in her own backyard.

As a grandmother, she found great joy reading books, playing with dolls, giving hugs and even taking them hunting and fishing! It was always important to her that she attended their sporting events, 4H shows, piano recitals and all of their important milestones. After retirement, she was active in the community with the Red Hat Ladies and volunteering at the Flea Market.

After years of battling cancer, it brought her great joy to meet her first great-granddaughter in January of 2024. Carol then passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and caring friends and family sending her prayers.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Neumann, her son, Falan, her daughter, Sheila, her granddaughter, Alaina, and her parents Harry and Mildred Berg.

She is survived by her daughters, Stacy (Will) Rhodes, Kristina (Mike) Taylor, brother Duane (Sharon) Berg, sister, Marlys Bushman, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Alan Nedrow officiating. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
