Carol J. Rovig, 87, passed away May 3, 2025, in Idaho Falls.

Carol was born on October 3, 1937, in Butte, Montana, to Willis and Ruth Godfrey. She was the second of four children. The family later moved to Pocatello, where Carol attended school. Growing up, some of Carol’s favorite memories were taking care of her cousins in Arbon Valley during the summer months.

After high school, she married Marlo Rovig on June 1, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived there for a short time before moving back to Pocatello for Marlo to attend ISU. Once he graduated, they moved to Idaho Falls, where they made their home.

Before starting their family, Carol worked for Kraft Cheese and as a switchboard operator for the phone company. In 1964, their son Rhett was born, followed by Tyler in 1967. As her boys grew older, she went to work for School District 91 in the lunch program until she retired.

Carol and Marlo spent their retired years traveling around the United States, enjoying many adventures. They traveled with Carol’s mom and siblings on several trips. One of her favorites was Branson, Missouri. Carol and Marlo spent many summers on the Kenai River in Alaska and winters in Yuma, Arizona. They loved to welcome their children and grandchildren for visits in both Alaska and Yuma.

Carol loved spending time with her two grandchildren, Colby and Haley. Camping, traveling to baseball games, gardening, and baking were just some of the hobbies she enjoyed with them. They were her pride and joy.

Survivors include her husband, Marlo; sons: Rhett (Brenda) Rovig and Tyler Rovig; grandson, Colby (Cheyenne) Rovig; granddaughter, Haley (Bradley) Dick; great-grandson, Brantley Rovig; and a sister, Marilyn Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A private celebration of life will be held with family at a later date. They would like to extend a special thank you to Morning Star for their loving care and support. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmortaury.com.
