Charlene Stephens Mills was born July 2, 1941, in Ogden, Utah. She was the first child of Doris (Patterson) and Pingree Stephens. She passed away in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center on May 20, 2025.

She attended schools in Ogden and cherished the years she spent growing up on the farm around her grandparents, Joseph and Vira Patterson of Riverdale, Utah.

On December 29, 1956, she married Roy Mills, and had four children while living in Ogden. In 1971, the family moved to Idaho Falls, and later settled in Ammon. Fifty-one years were spent living in Ammon while making many friends in the community. She fondly remembered the friends made while working as hard as a busy bee at R. T. French in Shelley, Idaho.

After Roy passed away in 1987, she found there was more to see of the world than fishing and camping in the Intermountain West. Her adventures included traveling with her grade school friend, Kathy, and others throughout the United States and an enormous variety of other countries. In addition, a full-time mission in South Carolina was served, as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As life got a little slower, she looked forward to playing games and enjoying gorgeous Idaho sunsets with neighborhood friends in the Stonegate neighborhood. Every Wednesday was baking banana bread day, followed by sharing it as a loving gesture with others who might need a lift up. Her hands were often moving like a machine with making hand-knitted afghan blankets, given as gifts for new babies or weddings.

Charlene is survived by her children, Gary Mills (Cindy) of Idaho Falls, Cheryl Colvin (Rick Quinton) of Idaho Falls, Allen Mills (Kristi) of St. George, Utah, and Ron Mills of Idaho Falls; her brothers, Dale Stephens and Jerry Stephens. Survivors include ten wonderful grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Mills; and grandchild, Jimmy Colvin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Services will be broadcast live at www.woodfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
