Dale William Lyman, age 68, passed away on January 23, 2026, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born in Idaho Falls, ID and spent his entire life living in the Osgood, Grant, and Rexburg area.

Dale was the beloved husband of Mary Ellen Loop-Lyman, the love of his life and his constant companion during their 45-year marriage. He is survived by his wife; his brothers, Greg and Blair; and his sister, Marsha Belcher. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Deraine Lyman; his mother, Deoine (Weber) Lyman; his brother, Gale Lyman; his sister, Cheryl Burrup; and his beloved Australian Shepherd, Brittany Spears.

Dale retired after many years as a farm manager on the Rexburg bench area, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and deep connection to the land. In retirement, he found joy in the simple and meaningful things—tending to his garden, caring for his yard, and taking pride in the beauty he created with his own hands. His garden and yard were a source of great pride and joy.

A quiet man of few words, Dale spoke with intention and meaning. He was someone you could trust with a secret, someone who respected all people, and someone whose loyalty ran deep. Those who knew Dale loved him for exactly who he was, and his friendships were lifelong.

Dale had an adventurous spirit and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his Polaris snow machine, and exploring with his Razor 4×4. Some of his happiest moments were spent traveling with his wife, especially on their cherished vacations to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

To his wife Mary Ellen, Dale was her whole world—her best friend, protector, and her only love. His passing leaves an immeasurable space in her heart, and though learning to live without him feels impossible, his love will forever remain a guiding presence.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional medical staff on the 5th floor of Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for their compassion, kindness, and above-and-beyond care. They treated Dale with dignity and grace and provided comfort to a very special soul.

Dale will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

No services will be held at this time. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent online at www.coltrinmortuary.com
