Debra Kay Sanders
October 26th, 1952 - April 17th, 2026
Debra Kay Sanders, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 17, 2026, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living. She was under the care of Eden Hospice.
Debra was born October 26, 1952, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Richard Jack Ackerman and Margaret Peggy Holden Ackerman. She attended Bel-Air Elementary, Claire E Gale Junior High, and Idaho Falls High School.
Her family began when she married Scott Stoddard. They were married for 15 years. Together, they had four children, Travis, Aimee Sue, Nathan, and Ryan. Later, she married Roger Sanders. He later passed away. She spent the last 20 years of her life with her loving partner, Ray Steele. Debra worked for Ada’s Cafe when she was younger. She later worked in office and administration for the State of Idaho, Bonneville County, and Walmart.
She was a member of the Eagles Club and Elks Club. She enjoyed socializing with her friends at the Eagles Club. She enjoyed camping, boating, traveling to Mexico and Yuma, Arizona. She loved to bake cookies, treats, and Christmas candy, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Debra is survived by her son, Travis (Maggie) Stoddard of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Ryan S. Stoddard of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Brenda (John) St. Clair of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Rick (Tina) Ackerman of Idaho Falls, ID; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard “Dick” and Margaret “Peggy” Ackerman; son, Nathan R. Stoddard; and daughter, Aimee Sue Stoddard.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 4600 South Yellowstone Hwy in Idaho Falls. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls.
