Dona Lea Johnson
October 22nd, 1936 - October 8th, 2023
Dona Lea Johnson, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at her home. She was under the care of Solace Hospice.
Dona was born October 22, 1936, in Oakland, California, to Ansel George Parker and Esther Marie Ralston Parker. She grew up in California, in the Bay Area. She attended Santa Clara High School and graduated in 1954.
On April 20, 1968, Dona married Adrian Lew Johnson in Idaho Falls and they made their home in Idaho Falls. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various positions including Young Women’s President, Relief Society President, Primary teacher, and Gospel Doctrine teacher, and served a mission in Canada.
Dona enjoyed doing Genealogy, church history, reading, and spending time with her family. A quote by Atticus Finch from the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” best applies to Dona: “She was one of the rare ones, so effortlessly herself, and the world loved her for it.”
Dona is survived by her husband, A. Lew Johnson of Idaho Falls; her daughters: Jenny Johnson (Brian Woolf) of Idaho Falls and Mary Spear (Paul) of Pueblo, Colorado; and her grandsons: Brock Johnson of Idaho Falls, Bryson Woolf of Idaho Falls, Jake Spear of Pueblo, Colorado and Will Spear of Pueblo, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Joyce Poole and Lucile Tutton; her nephew, Butch Tutton; and her niece, Tracey Mirth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Rose Park Ward, 1165 Azalea Dr., Idaho Falls. A visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the service.
