Obituary
Donald Brower
February 4th, 1936 - August 15th, 2025
Donald Stanton Brower, 89, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on August 15, 2025.
Don was born on February 4, 1936, in Red Lodge, Montana, to Arvel Edward Brower and Mildred Celestial Howard Brower. He was the youngest of nine children.
When he was five years old, his family moved to Ashton, Idaho, where he grew up on the family farm.
Don‘s best friends growing up, as a child, were his horse Chico and his dog Boots. The three of them had many adventures together.
Don loved football and was a driving force behind his high school team taking the State Championship for the first time in 30 years.
While in high school, he met the love of his life, Joan Fransen. After graduation, the high school sweethearts were married, June 24, 1955, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Don adored Joan and she was the center of his life, as were their four children.
As a leading and very successful salesman of farm and construction machinery, his occupation took him around the country. He and his family settled in Salem, Oregon. He was the top salesman of construction equipment for the Western region for a number of years. His success led him to the sales manager position for AC Haag Co. for over 20 years. Everyone in the region knew Don Brower and when they saw him drive up, they knew he would make them a deal they couldn’t refuse.
Don was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings over the years, including Stake Young Men’s President, High Councilman, Bishopric Counselor, Bishop, and Stake Presidency Counselor. He and Joan loved their time serving together in the Portland Oregon temple. Don loved his Heavenly Father and truly loved serving others. He would start his day by praying to be led to those who might need his help that day.
While serving as Bishop in Salem and with his connections with industrial equipment, he had the opportunity to oversee the ground breaking and building of the new Stake Center in Keizer Oregon, where he would serve as Bishop and later as a Stake Presidency Counselor. He spent countless hours on a backhoe and bulldozer preparing the ground for the construction of the Stake Center and by doing so the local member’s funds were able to be used elsewhere.
In 1990, Don suffered a head injury which led them back to Idaho. They settled down where it all began, in Ashton, for the next 17 years until they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, to be closer to family.
Don’s family and friends meant so much to him. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him so much joy and he looked forward to all of their visits.
He loved telling stories and loved it when he had a new audience to share them with. He was a very generous man and could not see anyone go without and not help them. A quality he made sure to pass onto his children and grandchildren.
Don was a great example to all who knew him and also to those who only had the opportunity to cross his path. He had a steady strength that touched many.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and one great-grandson. He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Joan, their four children: David (Donna) of Las Vegas, NV; Jackie Banyai of Twin Falls, ID; Judy (Dan) Johnson of Roseville, CA; Jann (Rob) Adams of Twin Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren, 14.5 great-grandchildren and one sister, Geane Quinlin, of Meridian, ID.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all those at Canyons Senior Living and Auburn Crest Hospice for their dedicated service and comfort they provided our father while in their care.
A service will be held in Ashton, ID, at Baxter Funeral Home Friday, August 22, 2025. at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
