Dr. Roger Stevenson Brunt, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 2, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Roger was born February 17, 1944, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Alfred William Brunt and Amelia Richards Stevenson Brunt. He grew up and attended school in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Brigham Young University and George Washington University, where he earned his doctorate in medicine. He also served as a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard and was assigned domestically to work with the Indian Health Services in Arizona for two years.

On January 27, 1967, he married Shirley Diane Smith in the Idaho Falls Temple. Diane was always enamoured with his handsome looks and humble charm. Roger and Diane lived in Washington D.C., Arizona, and Idaho Falls, where he worked as a family physician until 2006.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived an exemplary life of diligence and faith. He served a total of six missions. He served his first mission as a young man in the West Central States Mission. After retirement, Roger and Diane served five additional missions (Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Wales, and Idaho). He also served in many other capacities in the church and especially loved working with the youth. Roger loved serving in the Idaho Falls Temple, both as a patron and ordinance worker.

Roger is survived by his wife, Diane Brunt; and six children, Allison (Tyler), Julie (Troy), Michael (Chelsea), Rob (Erin), Suzanne (Ryan), Kim (Sky); 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, two siblings, and a stillborn daughter.

Roger’s impact was felt far and wide. His kindness, generosity, and love of service were an example to those with whom he worked and served. His sincerity and care were felt by everyone with whom he interacted, including his patients in his medical practice, and all his family and friends.
