Eleanor J. McCarthy
March 5th, 1930 - January 22nd, 2026
Eleanor J. McCarthy passed away January 22, 2026, at her son’s home in Heber, UT. Eleanor was born March 5, 1930, to Grant and Opal Putnam. She married Paul B. McCarthy on December 23, 1950. They lived in Richland, WA, before moving to Idaho Falls, ID, in 1964, where she lived most of her life. They raised five children: Karen, Kenneth, Katherine, Michael, and Bruce.
Eleanor was a devoted mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, knitting, and spoiling her husband and children. She also loved the outdoors—camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, and rafting with her family. After Paul retired, they spent years traveling through Elderhostel programs, cruises, and visits to family and friends. They were always going somewhere.
Eleanor is survived by her children Ken (Jen) of Heber, UT; Kathy of Bicknell, UT; Mike (Clyda) of Rigby, ID; and Bruce (Denise) of Dayton, WA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and her eldest daughter Karen.
She will be missed.
