Emily Archibald Burke, 48, of Ashton, Idaho, passed away on March 26, 2026, from cardiac arrest.

Emily was born to Steven Leon and Lana Buttars Archibald on May 12, 1977, in Preston, Idaho, and grew up in Garland, Utah. She attended Bear River High School, graduating in 1995.

Following high school, Emily attended Ricks College for two years (1995-97) before transferring to Utah State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in 2000 in computer information systems. After graduation, she worked at Icon Health and Fitness as a computer programmer on the IFIT team for a year.

During her time at USU, Emily met Benjamin (Ben) Burke. First paired as geology lab partners and later as coworkers in USU’s Student Lab Services, their relationship grew into a deep, lasting connection. Their first date—a drive through Logan Canyon—sparked a lifelong shared love for scenic drives, sodas, and lots of talking. Ben and Emily were married on May 7, 1999, in the Logan Utah Temple and were blessed with four children: Hannah, Tyler, Henry, and Vaughn.

Emily and Ben spent the first couple years of their marriage in Logan before moving to Rochester, Washington, for Ben’s job. Five years later, they relocated to Rigby, Idaho, where they spent much of their married life. For the past five years, they have resided in their dream home in the mountains east of Ashton, Idaho. They loved being surrounded by the peaceful scenery and wildlife.

Emily was a good artist and pianist. She liked music, Diet Coke, sitting on her deck in the sun, and playing the piano. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family. She loved Ben and her children deeply and was so proud of their accomplishments.

Emily’s profound love of the gospel of Jesus Christ was a defining characteristic of her life. She had a selfless love for others and readily served wherever she could, including in church callings. Primary pianist and Young Women’s secretary were among her favorites.

Emily is beloved by many and will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family, gentle spirit, loyalty, and love of fun. She will be so dearly missed!

Emily’s legacy lives on through her husband, Ben; children, Hannah, Tyler, Henry, and Vaughn; father, Steve Archibald; parents-in-law, Carter and Linda Burke; siblings, Lisa (Joseph) Robins, Sherri (Scott) Furness, and Ryan Archibald; in-laws, Deana Wiser Archibald; Stephannee (Martin) Schwinger; Candice Burke; Timothy Burke; Allyson (Matthew) Phillips. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lana Archibald, and her brother, Michael Archibald. She will also be remembered with love by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Her family would like to thank the Fremont County First Responders and the staff in the emergency room and ICU at EIRMC who cared for Emily as well as all who have shown an outpouring of love and support in the days following her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at the Ashton Spring Hollow Ward Chapel, 1313 North 3600 East, in Ashton, Idaho. The family will receive friends and family Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the chapel. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
