Garth Hanson Cordon, 71, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home in Ucon, Idaho, on Thursday, August 15, 2025. He was born on April 24, 1954, in Ashton, Idaho, to Cleon and Glaydis Hanson Cordon.

Garth grew up in Ashton, Idaho, and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1972. After high school, he worked at the Cadillac-GMC dealership in St. Anthony, Idaho, and attended Ricks College in Rexburg, where he studied Business Management. In 1976, Garth began what became a long and meaningful career with the Coca-Cola Distribution Center in Idaho Falls. He built many lasting friendships and community connections, always taking great pride in both his work and his relationships. After retiring from Coca-Cola, Garth became the proud owner of Don’s Lounge in Rigby, Idaho, which he operated for more than 20 years. He considered the people who gathered there friends and appreciated his dedicated staff, who became like family.

Garth, with his former wife, Twinkie Gibbons, had one son, Bradley Garth Cordon. He and Brad had a close relationship and many things in common. He was fortunate to have spent the last 20 years with his partner, LeAnn Butikofer, who he was heartbroken to lose about eight months ago. Together they loved spending weekends at their place in Palisades, “Sheep Creek.”  They enjoyed time with family and friends and traveling to places close to their hearts, including Afton, Ashton, and Bozeman. He also had a lifelong passion for snowmobiles, cars, and trucks, especially Lincolns and Fords.

Garth was preceded in death by his partner, LeAnn, his parents, Cleon and Glaydis Cordon, and his brother-in-law, Kurt Young.

His legacy continues through his surviving family: his son, Bradley Cordon (Jen) of Idaho Falls; his step-children, Jeremy Simmons (Kristy), Mark Butikofer (Keisha), and Marissa Butikofer (Brayden); his brother, Steve Cordon (Mary Loo) of Roy, Utah; his sisters, Melinda Young of St. Anthony and Michelle Mares (Mike) of Boise; and his grandchildren, Nicole Cordon (Alec), Cloey Lapore, Peyton King, Olivia King, Jozee Johnson, Morgyn Banta (Easton), Ryker Simmons, Roczen Butikofer, and Kobee Butikofer. He is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and countless cherished friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the LDS Church by the Pineview Cemetery east of Ashton, 1313 North 3600 East, Ashton, ID 83420. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery. A celebration of Garth’s life will be held that evening in Rigby at Don’s Lounge.
