Glenda Merrill Weekes, 93, passed away on March 15, 2026, at Lincoln Court Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Glenda was born on November 18, 1932, in Rigby, Idaho, to Mildred Tolley and Rex Smith Merrill. She was the firstborn of eight siblings. She grew up on the family farm in Menan, Idaho, and attended schools in Menan and Midway, graduating from Rigby High School.

Glenda met Steven Loyd Weekes one afternoon while swimming at Heise Hot Springs with a group of her friends. They courted for a few years while Steven served in the United States Army and were married on October 29, 1954. They would later be sealed for all time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Glenda and Steven lived in Pocatello, Idaho; Rexburg, Idaho; Rigby, Idaho; and Richland, Washington, finally making their permanent home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Glenda helped put her husband through college by working as an administrative assistant for the FBI office in Pocatello. She later had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom to her children. As her children got older, Glenda returned to work as a bookkeeper.

Glenda and Steven would have the blessing of adding four children to their family: KayLynn, Jeffrey Craig, Rodney Steven, and Eric Allen. As a family, they enjoyed camping trips, evenings of waterskiing with friends on the Columbia River, and family vacations to California and the surrounding states. Glenda had a love of books, crocheting, growing a beautiful rose garden, and spending time with her family. She was always there to support her children and grandchildren in all their activities.

She is survived by her daughter, KayLynn Hackett of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Rodney (Lisa) Weekes of Spokane, Washington; sister, Bonnie Hammond; brother, Terry (Deborah) Merrill of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Richard (Shirley) Merrill of Yuma, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Steven, three brothers, a sister, her sons, Jeffrey and Eric Weekes, and her grandson, Jarom Weekes.

We will remember Glenda for her deep love of family, homemade rolls and cookies, her strong faith in the Lord, and her great example of love and friendship. We will miss her dearly but know that she is now with her cherished family.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Archer-Sutton Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and family from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
