Obituary
Grayson Nathan Wegener
June 18th, 2000 - May 11th, 2025
Our perfect son, brother, grandson, and friend, Grayson Wegener, returned to his Heavenly Father on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, at the age of 24, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Father’s Day, June 18, 2000, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Grayson forever changed the lives of all those who knew him. Grayson endured a multitude of difficulties due to cerebral palsy, which was the result of a premature birth. Despite his parents’ initial concerns that Grayson would live a limited and restricted life, Grayson exceeded all expectations, living an exceptional life full of love and adventure. His existence was uniquely his own, and he created a world of joy in every moment of life. With that joy, he brightened the lives of everyone around him.
Grayson’s smile would light up a room and bring a smile to everyone that interacted with him. He loved his family (especially his brothers), and he loved travelling with them (Oh, and definitely the TV show Deadliest Catch). One of Grayson’s greatest loves was Field of Angels, a baseball league for children with disabilities that his true angel of a mother has operated for many years. Grayson graduated from Compass Academy High School in 2020. He loved school and everything about it, and even graduated Summa Cum Laude (What teacher wouldn’t give him an A?) Grayson loved to travel and has been on more than 15 cruises in the last 18 years. He swam in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, rode dozens of roller coasters, and even surfed the waves in Oahu, Hawaii.
Grayson was a radiant testament to endurance, joy, and faith. Grayson’s mission in life was to bring the Light of Christ to everyone that he met, and he served that mission to the end. We know that Grayson will be with his family for time and all eternity, and we look forward to the day when he will rise again with a perfect body, free from his mortal limitations, via the wonderful gift of Jesus Christ’s atonement.
His smile was contagious, his laughter unforgettable, and his kindness a blessing to all who knew him. Grayson taught those around him what it means to love unconditionally, to endure faithfully, and to live each day with gratitude and grace. Grayson would want to thank the many teachers, therapists, doctors, nurses, and especially his personal aides who all improved Grayson’s life, allowing him to live his life to the fullest extent possible. A special thanks to Eden Home Health and Hospice of Idaho Falls.
He is survived by his parents: Nate and Becky Wegener; his brothers: Jordan (Cassity) Sparks and Jacob Wegener; his nephew, Archer Sparks; his grandparents: Tony and Kathie Wegener and Rita Minkler; his many aunts and uncles; his even more cousins; and his countless dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, Ray Minkler.
