Obituary
Hal Buster
September 12th, 1933 - January 11th, 2025
Hal Buster, 91, of St. Anthony, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2025.
Born on September 12, 1933, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Forrest and Alta Buster, Hal was the eldest of four children. He grew up alongside his sister Marilyn, brother Cary, and sister Kathy. Hal attended schools in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served two years stationed in Germany, often speaking fondly of the friends he made during those years.
On March 2, 1958, Hal married Betty Enget, and together, they made their home in St. Anthony, where they raised their three children. As a lifelong farmer, Hal loved working outdoors and tending to his crops. Farming with his son Jeff was especially rewarding and allowed Hal to work well into his 80s. In addition to farming, Hal also worked alongside his brother-in-law, Bill Enget, and his sons, Hal and Jeff, raising cattle and sheep. Known for his honesty and integrity, Hal was respected by all who did business with him.
Hal enjoyed fishing, waterskiing, and hunting. In 1984, he was introduced to golf and played as often as possible with friends and family. Golfing with his son and grandsons brought him great joy. Hal was proud of his family and never hesitated to tell others about their accomplishments. He was a gentle soul with a soft spot for children, often moved to tears at the mention of a family member, especially a grandchild.
Hal was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his sister Marilyn, his brother-in-law Bill Enget, his brother-in-law Garth Baldwin, and great-grandson Tejay Cikaitoga. He is survived by his three children: Hal (Kaye) Buster of St. Anthony, JoDee (Robert) Johnson of Idaho Falls, and Jeff (Debbie) Buster of St. Anthony; his brother Cary Buster of Boise; his sister Kathy Baldwin of Boise; his sister-in-law Louise Enget of Island Park; his grandchildren Cassie, Darby, Tiffany, Jesse, Jake, and Chase; and great-grandchildren Rilee, Rosten, Taegan, Owen, and Eloise Hallie, named after her great grandfather. The family would like to thank Rilee Cikaitoga and Mary Sedberry for their compassionate and dedicated care.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony Stake Center, 247 E 4th N, St. Anthony, Idaho 83445, with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Hagen officiating. The family will visit with friends at the Stake Center one hour before the service.
After the service, lunch will be provided, allowing friends and family more time to visit, share stories, and celebrate Hal’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Upper Valley Youth Association (UVYA), PO Box 466, St. Anthony, ID 83445; Fremont County 4-H,19 W 1st N, St. Anthony, ID 83445; or South Fremont Education Foundation, 2050 E 600 N, St. Anthony, ID 83445.
Hal was a kind and humble man who was dedicated to his family and a life of hard work. He will be missed by all who knew him.
