James Sanders

May 25th, 1948 - March 23rd, 2024









James Edward Sanders, 75, of Ammon, passed away March 23, 2024, at Teton Healthcare of Cascadia.

James was born May 25, 1948, in Mora, Minnesota, to Robert William Sanders and Edith Goetschius Sanders. His family moved around with the Military and they lived in various places around the country. James graduated from Alamogordo High School in New Mexico in 1966. He also attended New Mexico State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Minor in Photography.

On December 31, 1969, he married Carol Ann Clemon in Sioux City, Iowa. James and Carol made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where James worked as a Radiation Technician at Naval Reactor Facility (NRF) at the INL. In 1995, he started the Hypoparathyroidism Association representing over 5,500 patients in over 65 countries, working tirelessly to improve the lives of those impacted by hypoparathyroidism.

He served as ward clerk for multiple bishoprics in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved writing, photography, observing unique scenery, and serving his fellow man. He was never afraid to introduce himself and always found time for a good joke.

James is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Sanders of Ammon, ID; sons, Jason (Valerie) Sanders of Kingman, AZ, Ben (Melodee) Sanders of Idaho Falls, ID, Robert (Amy) Sanders of Williston, ND, Aaron Sanders of Ammon, ID, and Stephen (Kristine) Sanders of San Francisco, CA; brother, Ross (Linda) Sanders of Weki Wach, FL; sister, Margery (Omer) Holcomb of Boaz, AL; brother, David (Joan) Sanders of Rockledge, FL; and 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Robert Sanders.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Ammon 3rd Ward, 2150 Avocet Avenue, with Bishop Darren Davis officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Services will be broadcast live by the Ammon 3rd Ward on James’ obituary page at www.woodfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
