Janet Murdock Walker passed away on January 22, 2024 in Wellsville Utah. She was born on June 17, 1942 in Driggs, Idaho to Marvis and Ellen Murdock. She graduated from Teton High School in 1960 and attended one year of schooling at Idaho State University. From there she went to Seattle Washington to attend dental assisting school. Upon finishing she returned to Lewisville and she began dating her sweetheart Kenneth. Janet was sealed to Kenneth Gerald Walker on October 11, 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together.

The couple moved to Brigham City Utah, where Kenneth attended Utah State University and Janet worked as a dental assistant. It was here that they started their family in 1967 when son David was born. The Walkers embraced a life of adventure as Kenneth’s job with the Bureau of Land Management led them to various corners of the country. They moved to Winnemucca, Nevada, where a second son, Scott, was born in 1969.

Kenneth’s job then took them to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where daughter Shelly was born in 1973. They then moved north to Billings, Montana. After a short time in Billings, they made the trek east to Virginia, where they enjoyed seeing all the sites of the nation’s capital. Some of their fondest memories are of camping at the beach at Kitty Hawk and Nagg’s Head and exploring historical sites. Janet was a life-long active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in multiple auxiliaries and callings, one of her favorites being a den mother for Scott and David.

Kenneth’s job led them back west where they were closer to family. They lived in Carson City, Nevada; Salmon, Idaho; and Ely, Nevada where Kenneth retired. They were finally able to fulfill their dream of moving back to their roots and built their dream home in Kenneth’s hometown of Lewisville Idaho. After Kenneth’s passing in 2012, Janet moved to Logan, Utah, to be closer to her daughter Shelly’s family, where they built a multi-generational home with a wonderful apartment for Janet.

Janet was very creative and was an amazing seamstress, quilter, gardener and cook. She spent much of her time quilting and donating these masterpieces to the Humanitarian Center. Janet could say her greatest accomplishment was her family. She took great pride in her three children and nine grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting their sporting activities, making them quilts and cherishing her greatest role as a mom and grandma. She was always there to lend a helping hand after each of her grandkids’ births, spending the days holding the newborn. Janet was kind, patient, had a witty sense of humor and was the best listener and confidante. She was easy to get along with and told the best stories about the past and was always up for an adventure.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, parents, and siblings Beverly, Cal, Jaque and Merry Sue. She is survived by her children David (Erin) Walker, Scott (Mary) Walker and Shelly Barber (Andrew Barber), and grandchildren Lauren, Jessica, Andrew, Nathan, Michael, Matthew, Annabelle, Clara and Emma, and siblings; Layle, Guy and Pam.

A service will be held at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby Idaho (101 W Main St. Rigby ID 83442) on February 3, 2024. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Lewisville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
