Jared Loren Andersen, 20 of Shelley, ID passed away on Sunday April 14, 2019 after a four year long battle with a rare type of cancer that began in his hand called Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Jared was born July 24, 1998, the second child of Loren Andersen and Brenda Fullmer Andersen in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Jared grew up in the Firth-Shelley area, attended schools there and graduated from Firth High School in 2016. He especially loved playing football and weight-lifting but enjoyed just about any sport.

He continued his education at Idaho State University where he wanted to study Nutrition and Health in hopes he could help people going through the health challenges like he was facing.

One of Jared’s greatest accomplishments happened in early 2016. Jared found a lot of relaxation and joy through weight-lifting. When he was diagnosed with cancer he continued to seek reprieve through lifting. The idea came to him to take on a senior project to get the Firth High School weight room updated. Through a lot of determination he was able to team up with the Bodybuilding.com’s Lift Life Foundation and Make-A-Wish of Idaho and make his project and wish a reality. The crumbling weight room of the school received a huge makeover and the school honored Jared by naming the remodeled room “The Jared Andersen Weight Room.” Jared was determined to always stay active and maintain a positive outlook on life and his dream project will help many others achieve this same mentality through lifting weights and strengthening themselves.

Jared is survived by his parents, Loren and Brenda Andersen; his brothers, Nicholas James Andersen and Brent John Andersen; grandparents Sheryl Savage, Monte Cordell Fullmer and Karen Natalie Fullmer.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Elmo Jack Andersen and his step-grandfather, John Savage.

The family is under the care of the Hawker Funeral Home. Memories of Jared and condolences to the family can be shared at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Hancock who was by Jared’s side battling for him during the past four years.
