Joyce Edna Morton, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 1, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Joyce was born May 6, 1937, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Nicholas George Oe and Eunice Norene Wilson Oe. She grew up at the family ranch south of Belfield, North Dakota, and attended the country Grand Meadow Elementary School and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson.

Joyce raised her children in Montana, Wyoming, and San Diego, California. She worked in Public Relations in the Civil Service industry in San Diego for over 30 years, retired to Georgia, and then moved to Idaho Falls in 2017. She was a member of Saint John Paul II Catholic Church and especially enjoyed participation in the Coffee With Christ program and Evangelization Retreats. Joyce’s life focus was on caring for others (especially her family) and supporting charities. Spare time was spent with gardening, houseplants, needlework, reading, traveling (mostly cruising with her sister), shopping (mostly for others), and puzzles.

Joyce is survived by her loving son, Lydell Cheadle of Idaho Falls. She has eight grandchildren (Shelby [Sean] Armstrong, Jeremy [Amanda] Cheadle, Jonathan Cheadle, Christina [Heis] Cheadle, Jessica Cheadle, Kasmir Lindbeck, Zachary Cheadle Lindbeck, and Christopher Lindbeck) and four great-grandchildren (Rachel Armstrong, Rickie Royce Cheadle, Iris Cheadle, and Danika Hanson). She is survived by two sisters (Emily Oe and Carol [Gary] Selby) and three brothers (Dale Oe, Keith [Kathy] Oe, and Dean [Twila] Oe. She also has an “adopted” family: Dawn McKinnie and her three sons (Randall Andrews, Brandon [Kaitlynne Beck] Andrews/daughter Isla Andrews, and Skylar Cook). She has 16 nephews/nieces, 38 great-nephews/nieces, and several great-great nephews/nieces.

Joyce was widowed and also preceded in death by her parents (Nicholas and Eunice Oe), four children (Carla Rufus, Rickie Cheadle, Shawn Cheadle, and Kimberly [Kurt] Lindbeck), as well as one brother (Maxie Oe) and one sister/brother-in-law (Berna/Michael Walter).

Joyce’s funeral will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church ay 11:00 a.m. on January 12, 2023. A Rosary devotion will be held prior at 10:30 a.m.
