Judith “Judy” Anne Barnes (Vickers) passed away in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on September 23, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Orville and Margaret Vickers on August 2, 1941, the eldest of their five children. The family then moved to Ellensburg, WA, where they lived until 1956, when they moved back to Twin Falls. Shortly after moving back to Idaho, the family lost Judy’s father to cancer.

That same year, Judy met Harold Barnes while cruising the Twin Falls “strip,” as they called it. The couple married on July 2, 1960, and started their family, welcoming two sons – Phillip and Kent. Early in their marriage, they moved around a bit – living in King Hill as well as Caldwell. The family eventually settled in Idaho Falls, where Harold was transferred by the Idaho State Police; Judy worked as a homemaker until her boys started school. Never one for idleness, Judy worked several jobs while the boys grew up – as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell, as a MaryKay cosmetics salesperson, and as a cashier for JCPenney’s department store.

Judy was full of love and filled her life with it. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends outdoors, including motorcycle trail riding, water skiing, fishing, downhill skiing, camping, and traveling. In 1998, Judy suffered a back break injury during a tubing incident, but she continued to enjoy the outdoors and her people as often as she could, even after the accident. Judy is remembered by family and friends for her contagious laugh, sparkling smile, and infectious joy – she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, two siblings, two sons, six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a great-granddaughter on the way.

Her celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, 785 First Street, Idaho Falls, with a reception to follow. Arrangements are under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
