Obituary
Judy Blackburn
January 30th, 1942 - June 5th, 2026
Dear Judy,
You were born to Elmer and Virginia Blackburn. You were a devoted middle sister to Lea Mae Johnson and Ben Blackburn.
Grandma was proud of your education at Willamette University where you earned a degree in teaching and music. You became a loving and inspirational teacher at New Sweden, Ethel Boyes, and Westside Elementary.
You loved classical music, singing in the choir and playing piano for Trinity United Methodist Church, horseback riding, bowling, the ranch, playing the cello, swimming, dogs (especially Boston Terriers), the desert, reading, and baking.
But this is also some of what I know about you:
-You poured your heart into your cookies and cinnamon rolls.
– You spoke fondly of our ancestors and pack trips.
– You gave rides on your horses to us girls.
– You waited by the phone for Ben’s calls and were his best friend.
– Your dogs were like your children.
– You loved big sunglasses and turquoise jewelry.
– You loved the smell of lavender.
– You liked the color blue and your heating pad.
– You could play anything on the piano.
– Your handwriting was perfect.
– You were never in a hurry.
– You were another “grandma” to my kids, teaching them how to bake and garden.
You may have lost your mom and sister, but your “baby brother”, Ben Blackburn; his daughter, Cayanne (Stacy) Ott, and her children, Tristan and Chloe; your niece, Deborah Empey with her daughter, Joey (Trent) Ford, and their children, Ellie and Wayne, are your legacy.
As you told me my entire life, “You are loved more than enough.”
Your “buddy”,
Joey
Our family would like to recognize the devotion, care, and love shown by Senior Helpers, especially Paige, Judy’s special girl.
A service for Judy will be held at a later date in the mountains she so dearly loved.
