Katie Lorene Stone Ostler, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away on November 16, 2025, at her home. She was under the care of Heritage Hospice and her loving family.
Katie was born on September 12, 1938, in Ashton, Idaho. Katie’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, her generosity towards others, and her many creative talents. Katie grew up in the Ashton area, where she received her education. She was the daughter of Levi and Grace Stone, who raised her to be compassionate and caring.
On June 21, 1957, she married Paul M. Ostler in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together, they shared a lifetime filled with love and cherished memories. Paul, a cornerstone of her life, passed away on March 9, 2014. They lived most of their married life in Idaho Falls. In the early years, they lived in Shelley; however, when Paul started his own business, they moved to Idaho Falls. They built a cabin in Warm River on the Stone homestead and moved there when they retired. They enjoyed many camping and fishing trips, especially when their grandchildren joined them. When Paul got sick, they sold the cabin and moved back to Idaho Falls.
Throughout her life, she was known for her baking, crocheting, and sewing skills. Many family members and friends received beautifully crafted tablecloths, doilies, and scrubbies made with love, a testament to her generous spirit and creativity. Katie’s dedication to helping others was a defining aspect of her personality; her home was always warm and welcoming. She loved to lend a hand, whether it meant providing a place to stay or preparing a meal for those in need. Her open-door policy and her loving nature endeared her to all who crossed her path. Indeed, to know her was to love her.
She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Susan Jaramillo, daughter Karen Ostler, and son Mark Ostler, all of Idaho Falls, Idaho. In addition, she leaves behind a sister, Letha (Jim) Tucker of New Plymouth, Idaho, and a brother, Lynn (Auna) Stone of Venice, Utah. Katie took great pride in her family legacy, which includes four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
